I think at least. Waiting on a check to arrive and then I'll have most of the cash for it.

Going to sell my 10D to help pay for stuff.

I want to get the battery grip and will need another neck strap and have my sights on a few lenses.

Hopefully my tax return this year will be decent so that I can get a lens or two. The damned government has taken like $10,000 from me. Bastards!

My 30D was getting lonely, so I got a 40D last Friday. Didn't regret it fof a second. I needed a two camera setup for this wedding season anyway.
You are going to have a ton of fun with the new camera. Hope everything works out.
btw - Optech straps are awesome. I sometimes have to wear my camera for about ten hours. The optech makes that a breeze.

I already have an Optech, I will need another :)

I have been using my 10D as backup for my weddings, but it's just slow to come on and such. Will be nice to have the 20D as backup for instant on and higher resolution and I'll have a battery grip for both cams.

We are camera setup twins. :D

OK, but to set the record straight: your tax return is the thing you send them. The thing they send you is a tax refund.

Ignore the 40D and just go for the 1DsMKIII. Or switch with Nikon and go for the D3. And then... uhhh... be poor?

I once saw pictures of some dude walking into the B&H store in NY, purchasing the 1DsMKII over the counter, and then riding home on his Huffy bicycle with the camera dangling from the handlebars in its white plastic bag...

I would love a MkIII (1D not 1Ds) but at this point in time I'm not going to be spending $5000 for it.

I would never switch to Nikon. I have around $5000 in Canon glass. Even if I didn't I wouldn't switch to Noink.

Chances are you aren't a professional photographer, either. I would hope that you are precise in your use of language here regardless of your vocation, as the usefulness of this forum depends on it.

Actually, I am a professional photographer.

And I'm sure that 99.9% of people who read that would understand exactly what is meant.

The other .1% are people like you who would correct the spelling and gammar of text messages.

I am excited for it!

Cool! I'm interested to see how the supposedly higher dynamic range will affect wedding shots with the white dresses.

It's early in the year, but I am still going to nominate you for jerk of the year.

for me its just going to be a much needed upgrade from my Elan IIe. I've stopped using the camera because i was just not happy with the results anymore. Hopefully, this will bring me back to my old days like in college when i shot for the sake of art not just when we go out to parties and random drunk shots.

I hope my refund comes before the first week of march so that i can buy the camera and use it when i take my vacation in Prague that week. That would be fantastic.

I took a course in photography a few years ago at a local college since it was film only just because I wanted to learn about the darkroom and develop photos by hand. It was a lot of fun, but I'm glad for the digital age. Winding up film onto rolls to put in a developer in total darkness is interesting. I purchased an Elan 7NE for the course and it was a very nice camera. I have since sold it of course because I'd never use film for any of my work.

Photography was my minor in college :)

I spent alot of time in the dark room and wandering around taking pictures.

No, that isn't spelling or grammer. That is sloppy content. Camera model numbers and specs can be confusing, and accuracy is important. If I have to depend on what someone means instead of what they say, I tend to question their credibility.

Obviously you wouldn't be correcting any spelling anytime soon.

Oh, and I apologize for saying "tax return" instead of "tax refund", thereby confusing the entire photography community and causing all of their photos to be out of focus indefinitely.

what, are you joining me in my Nikon fanboi-ism?

:p

Canon and Nikon are, for all practical purposes, equivalent. stick with the system that you have and are comfortable with. I use Nikon, and I cannot for the life of me figure out Canon controls in a timely fashion; I'm sure that goes both ways. although I figured out the controls on an A100 pretty quick; is Sony actually designing a good interface? but still, my D50 is like an extension of my hand, though I'm curious what Nikon releases at the $1000 price point to follow the D80. as much as I want a D300, I do not have the money, and even if I did, I could not justify spending that much, as photography is merely a hobby of mine.

I've not used a Noink for shooting. Held a few briefly, but nobody that I know has one.

The Canon controls (at least for their SLR's) are very intuitive...to me at least. But I dunno if it's because I've been using Canons forever. Started with an old AE-1 Program that my dad had.
