Can't wait guys, I'm gonna trade in my Protege5 and get the ground effect kit, subs, and other good options they have for it. Wooohooo!!! The only thing about this car is, it gets bad gas milage, 22/29 is pretty bad I must say.

Factory rice, score! 😛 Don't get the subs - you can buy twice the quality components with the money rather than going with Toyota's overpriced system.

22/29 is bad?

compare to other 4 cylinder cars with simliar hp/torque?
accord 24 mpg / 33 mpg
camry 23 mpg / 32 mpg
yes, the tc is around the same size, but still the thought of 4door sedans getting better mileage than a coupe. 🙂

Car weigh too much, the front is too roundish and bad color selection. A bright red and electron blue choice would have been great.
I like everything else about it.

For $17K, I would buy a slightly used RSX type s right now.
Better than the tC in every way.
And if you say warranty....I'd say you can get a certified type s.

Don't forget the Acura RSX. Almost all the same specs.

EPA city/hwy mpg 24?27/31?33

Sorry to hear that.

You should keep the protege 5, its a nicer car.

I agree.
Protege 5 > Scion tC
Looks better, more practical. I am thinking about picking one up, actually.
Also, you already took a resale hit on the P5. I would keep it.

Umm... yeah, My WRX with turbo, AWD, and 70+ more hp gets 21/27. My GF's 2.5RS with AWD and almost exactly the same hp/tq gets 24/32 (with a bunch of mods upping it to ~190 crank hp it gets 23/30).

In other words, 22/29 is pretty crappy for FWD with (IIRC) 166hp.

Yeah but you're comparing different type of car.
I can easily find a RSX type S with ~30K miles for $17K also.
Much faster car that also get better milage...24/31

I got a quote from esurance and its about the same from my current car(99 Civic Si) to a RSX type S.
I was always hesitant to look at a Type S because of insurance but I was wrong.
I thought the tC might be in the same ballpark.

Seriously, why spend $17K for a tC when a $17K Type S is better in every way ?
The reason why I pick the Type S is because of the similarities.

Advantages of getting a new tC:
Brand new model.....well in 6 months, there will be tCs all over the roads.
New car....well a slightly used Type S looks exactly like a new car(unless you tell people other wise)
Warranty......a certified Type S solves that problem(beside its an Acura for god's sake)
Financing........I don't see Toyota offering any kind of incentives for the tC.
Resale.........well, lets say 60K miles later, a 90K type S will be worth just as much(if not more) than a 60K miles tC.

* Performance wise, the Type S wins hands down.
* Better gas milage
* More aftermarket parts available.
* Subjective but the RSX just looks better....more agressive looking car.
* Reliability.....Acura vs Scion....common, even if a Scion is a Toyota...still.
* Better car to mod.....its lighter for once and for less than $1000, Hondata can do this:
-12-20 peak wheel hp from a stock RSX depending on the dyno and modifications.
-15-20 ft/lb torque increase between 2500-3500 rpm.
-Peak torque now at 3200 rpm on an unmodified RSX.
-Very flat smooth torque curve. 95% of peak torque available from 2500-8000 rpm.
-Rev limiter optionally raised to 8600 RPM (see valve spring tech information).
-VTEC point lowered to 5200 rpm for cars with intake systems.
-Passes Californian smog testing (no measurable difference from stock).
-Fully dealer compatible - works with all Honda scan tools and equipment.

HONDATA
For me personally, its a no nonsense choice.
