sweet room! i wish i had such a sweet room when i was a babby
(Update) - 3 weeks to go! Everything/Everyone doing well.
Congrats.
I like the washboarding on the lower half. It will help keep the damage to a minimum.
Things I would recommend:
-A comfy chair or setee (whatever they call those ass-cusions) - You will need this for times when Jr will not get to sleep.
-Shelves shelves and more shelves. - You will need them. A double bar for hanging clothes will also help in the closet.
-Storage space for things like strollers. You will need two.
-A main diaper bag that will not make you (are you the guy?) look froofy. You will be carrying it a LOT.
-Several smaller "emergency packs" for places like the car, your parents house (or other relative) or any other place you might be caught out w/o a diaper handy.
Just be careful not to buy too far ahead of the curve. It is not for the safety of the kid, just that a 1 year old will rip a pop up book to shreds if left with it, and would rather bang or throw any "learning" toy than actually use it.
Hope this helps!
(Father of 23 month old...)
Good luck OP. And Congrats. Parenthood is, by far, one of the most rewarding experiences in life. I have a two year old and I still remember very clearly the day he was born. It is an incredible moment. Cherish all of it, because they really do grow up quick.
And take it from me. No matter what your wife is craving, do not let her eat mashed potatoes and cheesecake if she feels like she "has an upset stomach." When my wife was due, she suddenly started jonesing for some cheesecake factory cheesecake and potatoes, and your's truly made the mistake of running out to get them for her. She ate an entire piece of cheesecake and about half the potatoes, and then promptly went into labor. To make a long story short, that cheesecake and potatoes ended up all over me during the delivery. We laugh about it now, but it truly was revolting at the time.
Thanks for the warning, my wife is lactose intolerant so that would present a whole other set of problems!
For some reason, at 2, our kid still does not watch any TV to speak of. His cousin is a Ni Hau Ki Lan addict (she would have to sit in front of a laptop for hours watching it... AND THEY LET HER!), and the cousin on the OTHER side was a SpongeBob addict at 3....
YMMV.
is the sex going to be a surprise?
