One of my best friend's from High School asked me to be the Best-Man at his wedding next June .

I'm really excited and honored, but I'm not exactly sure what my duties are.

What are all the responsibilities of a Best-Man ?

I know I will be giving a speech/toast. What are the general rules surrounding the speech ?

What about the Bachelor party ?

I'm, for the most part, only concerned with giving a good speech/toast.

I'm not the greatest public speaker.

Don't sleep with his wife. :D

Technically, she wasn't his wife yet ... :p

Pre-wedding, your job is to throw the bachelor party. Strippers and booze mandantory, cameras not permitted.

Your job at the ceremony itself is to get him to the church on time and sober.

At the reception, duties vary. You give the final speech, which is designed to dig up horrible secrets from the groom's past to embarass him to no small extent. Bachelor party is off-limits, though. You may also have to be the MC, depending on how the wedding is structured.

Why don't you ask your buddy what he's planned for you? Usually the best man's duties is one section where the Overbearing Mother of the Bride doesn't get to stick her nose in.
