Can anyone recommend good sites, books or magazines that go over the basics?

Personally, I think the two best books for newbs is "Beyond Greed and Fear" and "Irrational Exuberance". Learning how you go wrong investing and being a tad more cautious is a better perspective than wearing rosey colored glasses and losing money.
