So, I get my RIO-500 Mp3 player the other day from that CDR deal, see? After messing with windows, I get the program up and running. I plug my player into the USB port, and put a few songs on there. No biggie. Can't seem to get the thing to read my extra memory cards, right? No biggie, again. I'll deal with it tomorrow.

Then comes tomarrow...I try to put more songs on it. No go. It says it can't read it. I play with it, and it works. Battery goes dead. I turn it off, put a brand new battery in, turn it on. Great, it works. I start to load some tunes onto it. Loading...loading...splat. Something happens. It says it got unplugged all of a sudden. I'm not even touching it! I stop it, turn it off, and turn it back on. It displays a solid black square. I turn it off...it won't. It keeps the black square. on/off on/off blah blah still stays. I wait a little while. Still there. I pull the battery out, and put another in. Still there. I put it down, and leave it for awhile...

STILL FSCKING THERE!!! It won't clea up, won't load, won't recognize on the 'puter, NOTHING!!!

Whatthefsck is wrong with this piece?! I've had it for ONE DAY!

I understand, that Diamond crap never did work well...

I know the company that does their refurbishing of the hardware, he has a massive warehouse full of those Rios, nothing but trouble...

hehe I bought one off the forums...

for 60 shipped.. it's a cool device.. but i've resold it.. and got myself a Nomad Jukebox instead..

I'm gonna hack it to 20gb.. and use that instead.. although it's larger..

wish it had an optical out tho.. and an optical in..

I've had the RIO500 for several years (paid $400 for it), and it works great. I dropped it onto my concrete driveway one time, my ACCIDENT, from a height of about 5'. For awhile there, it acted weird and would just turn itself off every now and then. But, after a new battery and some use, the thing still works!
