Also..something I do not understand..
You say you are on workers comp and not able to go back to work.. but you are having job offers lined up left and right? So, does that mean if you get a job offer, you are able to go to work immediately? Or is that prospective employer going to hold out on you to get better? Are you really capable of going back to work right now? Would your current employer allow you to come back, if you are indeed able to do so?

I am a IT person, so in my traditional role I can do my job without issue, however at the job I am at now it's for a security installation company which required me to do less and less IT related task that I was hired for and more and more security installation which requires heavy lifting and a lot of getting up on a ladder which the doctor says he doesn't want me to do.

I am put onto workers comp pay from my employer instead of them providing me with a job that meets the doctors restrictions, it's their choice at this point to not allow me back since they say they don't have anything available for me that will meet the doctors restrictions.

EDIT: Why do you say "Don't refer to it as "quitting your job""?

Can you stay on workers comp after moving and just don't say you've moved yet?

I spoke with a lawyer and he actually said to do this, which shocked me.

I would seriously not tread on those boundaries. That is pushing the boundaries of workers comp. fraud.

My wife's aunt claimed workers comp. from supposedly her wrist "being hurt".. but while getting workers comp. benefits, she continued to work on the side cleaning houses, etc.
Needless to say, she got busted.

I agree and understand what you're saying, I'm not trying to pull a fast one on them and have done everything by the book thus far.

On another note.. just be honest with your current employer.
Explain to them that based on "you and your fiance's best interest, you have decided to relocate and explore more opportunities". I would hope they will appreciate your honesty, instead of beating around the bush with it..

I appreciate the input, thanks.

Once you move you wont be too far from me. I live just west of Atlanta.. Funny thing is that me and my wife are ready to leave this area. We are both tired of the traffic.

I hear the outside the perimeter part of the Alpharetta commute is awful traffic.

Good luck. I left the best job i've ever had to move to NYC, and things have turned out ok after a few months of anxiety.

Alpharetta and Duluth are nice, but ya need to go further north to get into cheaper properties/rent. I live in Gainesville and commute down to Norcross. The commutes SUCK here in Atlanta but atleast they're attempting to work on it. 🙂 Welcome to the ATL! (whenever you're moving)

Thanks, and I'm coming from Miami traffic, and anyone who's been through the Golden Glades Interchange knows how bad it is here anyways.

I lived in Towns County for 4 years (Hiawassee) and used to go to Gainesville all the time since it was the closet town with a mall and large name stores.

I'm most likely going to end up buying in Gwinnett county if anything but we're renting for the first year we're there.

I'm moving this weekend btw.

Dude, you gave no notice?

In my situation no notice was required since I have been out of work for months, notice is to allow for time to hire your replacement and train them, this doesn't apply to my situation.

I offered but my boss said it was not necessary at this point.
