I'm going to order a gaming rig...

so far I've looked at Alienware ($$$)

or dell...any suggestions?

I can build my own, but lack the time or desire needed to trouble shoot. I'm getting old, fat and lazy :)

I originally posted this in the General Hardware forum, but the topic Nazi's got to me ;)

Any "gaming" brand-name PC will cost you $$$. I hear Alienware is higher than most and their "enhancements" aren't worth it. Buy your local Computer Shopper or whatever computer magazine and look there; they commonly list these uber-gaming systems for people who don't want to buy their own.
A couple words of advice regarding components:
For gaming, Athlon 64; accept no substitude
1GB RAM
High quality, high wattage power supply
nVidia 6600/6800 series or ATI x800 series video cards

Hell, I'll order the parts and build you a quality rig for a few $ to me, I just won't answer your phone calls at 1am :p

agreed for gaming get an AMD athlon 64.

compaq has a gaming rig too. there are also a bunch of smaller companies like ABS, northgate, polywell. dont really know anything about them, but you should check them out too.

If I was gonna wait a bit, I'd see if I could find one with the GeForce 6800 GO graphics, but it would probably be twice as expensive.

The have a Ninja model too that has an Athlon 64 for about the same price, but the processor difference doesn't matter because it's got a worse screen and only a 128mb Radeon 9700.

if you are already looking at PCs in this pricerange, I suggest going for a VoodooPC RAGE system,
