I'm going to make my basement into a theater this year

There is NOTHING more important to doing this than room dimensions.

Keep that in mind. Before you do anything think about the acoustics of the room.

Cool isn't the word i'd use to describe any of those.

Show us your home theater and we'll compare.

I don't have one.

Ahhh....so you're not qualified to judge...

I don't need to own a Pontiac Aztec to know it's one of the ugliest vehicles ever produced.

So you're honestly saying that if you had something like any one of those theaters in your house, every single person that walked into it wouldn't go "WOW! THIS IS FREAKIN' AWESOME!" ?

No, every single person wouldn't say that. If i did have a home theater, it would be simple. Then again i'm not into star trek, star wars, or any of that other stuff and really no one i know is either. My first concern would be acoustics as spidey already mentioned. So, to each their own.

The article itself calls them "geeky" and that's exactly the word that i would use to describe them.

what normal, high-paying couple is going to want a star trek themed basement? 😉

I actually liked the titanic one because it seemed like it could be used for things other than a geeky home theater.

My buddy who is wealthy enough to afford one of those, has a room in his house ready for a theatre installation, but they haven't pulled the trigger yet. I hope he does soon so I can mooch off of thousands in hifi gear... 😀

I'd prefer a more traditional setup, but the bat cave is undeniably cool.

I also prefer a more traditional setup, less distractions.

Although a Captains Chair in a Star Trek themed theatre is tempting.

I must agree with the geeky term. I'm sure most women would too.

I like the batman one, but I think I would like it more for something to see once or twice. If I had a home theater I think I'd want it a bit less themed because it would grow a bit tiring.

In any case, most of those are really cool anyway.
