???

The sat's are only meant to handle 60 watts and the reciever your looking at is rated at 100 watts/channel. Also, i dont think it is possible to just hook up the sub to the reciever, then again i could be wrong.

i always thought that it meant it could handle UP to 100 watts. hehe. so does that mean if i hook up some 120 watt speaker so that, then the speakers will just be used at 100 watts, or would that blow the speakers too.

The brand is KLH, not KHL, and I have no idea if it has any bang for the buck, or if it is just garbage. Personally, I wouldn't touch a KLH receiver from Best Buy.

On the low end for receivers, people are giving the Panasonic SA-HE100 much respect (Matsushita electronics is replacing all its Technics branded stuff with Panasonic branded stuff). It's available for about $240 online. I very seriously considering buying one.

You can try using your Klipsch Pro-Media speakers, but don't try to turn them up too loud, or you'll be seeing smoke in short order. You'll probably need to bust into the cabinet of the sub-woofer, disconnect the built in amp from the driver, and solder on some new speaker wire to run directly from the receiver. The way I see it, the Pro-Medias you have are goners anyway , so it can't hurt to try. (What use are they if the built in amp is malfunctioning?) When you inevitably blow those poor little Pro-media drivers, you'll want a decent receiver to run a decent set of real speakers.

from what i remember, over powering is better then underpowering. just don't turn them up beyond reason, which would be even higher then the max for the original amp.. which was already quite insane:p

also, theres a warrantee period, why not use it?

if your hooking it up to a computer, software decoders do both dd and dts now days.
