cool, where did you grow up? maybe the container thing is locale-specific... i can imagine it woudl be done in a tighter community... most the places i went to were too busy to make reusable containers a good idea. most of the street food i had was from xi an.

zhengjiang, it's a city near nanjing in the jiang su province. you might have seen the vinegar heh... anyway when i was there, only the bigger places sold food in disposable containers. the really popular, small vendors had ceramic containers.

Nanking, the former capital of China when Kuomintang was in charge. Zhengjiang is ghetto small, I was in Jiang Su province a year ago. Definitely don't go there during the summer, the place is way too humid and hot, not comfortable walking on the streets.
