What brands are the best for the money? I am not going to spend much, I am looking at some at Lowe's and Home depot that are around $600 on sale. There is also a guy in town who deals in appliances and has a Samsung bottom freezer fridge for $350 but I am not sure about Samsung fridges, he offers 6 months warranty

Consumer Reports says GE GIE18CTHWW, Whirlpool WRT106TFDW, Hotpoint HPE15BTHWW are fairly rated at that price point.

Ice maker models Maytag and Frigidaire has the least amount of problems. Doesn't look like they rated Samsungs.

thanks, can you check the whirlpool wrt311fzdw? It is on sale for $598 and I get a free ice maker with purchase plus free delivery. It is 20.5 cu ft

Sorry not on their list.

There's a WRT318FMDM that got a 49/100 score. Highest scorer was a 67/100. They basically all got hammered for poor 'ease of use'.

No brand recommendations but I can say fridges have been getting wider, deeper & taller. Make sure you are 100% accurate with your measurements.

I was told that most ovens/refrigerators/washing machines are made by the same company, and only the label is different.
Also, Lowes & HD usually have clearance models that are scratched/dented for $300-400 or more off.

Based on my experience with my LG refrigerator, I'd avoid the brand. I've had to replace almost all of the plastic inside (shelves, drawers, door shelves) because they were extremely fragile. Then the plastic ice maker line, which they stupidly routed right over the hot exhaust, sprung a leak and caused a $7000 floor replacement.

The LG refrigerators look nice in the showroom, but I'll never own another one.
