I'm going to build a window seat "poll"

How well will the window seat go?

  • Oh it will be horrible!

  • You will be doing more then just reading on that piece of win

  • You will fail and not even bother trying, and you will end up buying her a gift at Walgreens

I'm building my wife a window seat for her birthday. She will come back from her trip, and see the epic win.

Or will it be epic fail?

You be the judge!

I'm wondering if 5ft will be sufficient? maybe 6ft just to be safe.

Are you replacing a window or framing a new hole?

This is "window seat" with an asterisk.

It's really going to be a giant bookshelf w/ a nice flat spot to lay down on right next to the existing double hung window.

I am not pushing the window out as in a traditional window seat, this is a compromise ;)

Totally removable and portable should the next person who lives here not like it.

The intention of this room was always to turn it into a library, and a cozy spot near the window would be a nice place to read

Just throw an air mattress on the floor in front of the window. Walgreens has air mattresses for $3.

This will also double as a sweet entertainment center for a big screen TV

and YES it will hold up to 400lbs weight easily, it's got a super strong skeleton.

looks nice, needs stained
Yeah, does look nice though.

Wish my apartment even had any sunny windows. Two out of four sides lack windows completely. The other sides get poor sunlight - and one of those sides has only a single window. Oh well, some day I hope to have a nicer place. :)

Nice job!

thanks!

My neighbor came by and complimented on it, but he looked at me like I was crazy when I said I didn't have any paper plans for it. It just sort of builds itself once you get an idea of what the dimensions are supposed to be overall

All I had was that piece of paper .jpgd above.

I was going to built 2 swinging doors but after I raised up the side portions it looked so nice I decided to just picture-frame the opening for a nice open effect.
