I'm going to be on a 13 hour flight.

I stayed up all 13 hours when I flew from Hong Kong to San Francisco and could barely keep my eyes open when I landed.

Next time I'm going to try the not sleeping the night before the flight thing. Anyone tried that yet? My co-worker said that works. Or I just need some prescription drug. I tried the free booze thing and all it did was make me more uncomfortable after 6 glasses of wine.

Do they honestly give you free booze? Even in Coach?

Cathay Pacific gives free booze and snacks in economy.

Sweet, I'm flying out soon on CX. Free booze!!!

Also power won't work... CX (like most airlines) use an Empower port which is nothing like our plugs here.

...pausing occasionally to give a long, piercing glare at everyone in line of sight. Especially the "...or you'll all be destroyed!" parts!

Pat the bulge under your jacket for emphasis while doing this....

BWAHAHHAAAA!!

I spent most of the nine hours I spent on a plane watching movies, listening to music, reading, and napping. Just look at it as a long day at work.

Nine hours is a long day at work? 😕

Its not as bad as people claim it to be. I have flown that many hrs many times. Trick is to take a book with you.
Read the book till you are dead sleepy - don't just give up - I am talking reading for 3 hrs.
Then sleep - should take you a minute to fall asleep. Sleep for about 6-7 hrs.
The rest of the 3-4 hours - watch some TV/movies. MOST international flights of this duration will give you your own screen/controls etc.

If you are flying 13 hours, there i a decent chance of changing time zones (assuming you are not going to south america). The best way that I've found to combat jet lag is to stay awake the entire night before, making you miserably tired, then sleeping the entire flight to europe. You'll overcome jet lag much quicker, and wont have a boring flight.

lol, all the suggestions for business class...
