Here's what I already have planned:

Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39
Alcatraz
Chinatown
Boat tour of SF
Boardwalk in Santa Cruz
Monterey Bay Aquarium
17-mile drive in Pebble Beach

Also, where are some good places to eat? I don't like seafood.

NASA Ames is pretty cool, but I'm not sure how much access the public is given. It has the world's largest wind tunnel, the VMS is incredible, and there are little nuggets all over to people interested in aerospace.

That place is effing expensive ($200+) and requires 2 month reservation. I read the food's good though.

If you want a good steak, go check out Cattlemen's in Livermore. It's about a 35 mile drive according to maps.google.com.

Used to be called the great mall of Milpitas. It's a huge mall.

its not huge.

its a crappy outlet mall built inside an old car plant. its gotten less crappy over the years as they've moved away from being totally outlet stuff and got a theater and homedepot. still its nothing more than average because it was originally meant to be a cheapo outlet mall.

yep. if you want better shopping in your area, Stanford Mall is not bad. In the San Jose area, I'd skip on Great Mall. Go to Valley Fair instead-- much better. Can also get dinner in Santana Row if you'd like.

Stanford Mall = high end stuff. Nice environment. Valley Fair = great place with all the stores. Great Mall is not bad at all. They still have plenty of places there, but considering I usually hit up BR and Gap outlets, I don't seea reason to drive to Gilroy for those stores.

Alice's Restaurant

Then take a nice drive on 84 west to San Gregorio on Hwy 1 and drive up the coast 10 or 12 miles to Half Moon Bay. Take Hwy 92 west back to 101 south, back to Mountain View.

Here's a link to be able to get to Alice's here

Best to go North on 101 to highway 84 west in Redwood City (Woodside Road turnoff) to get there, although there are other ways.

You can do Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, a cable car or street car to Union Square (as long as you don't spend too much time shopping), and a walk through Chinatown and North Beach in one day (would recommend going on a weekday if you don't want to deal with crowds). If you love garlic, eat at the Stinking Rose. Not the cleanest places to eat at, but for latenight chinese try Hing Lung or D&A.

If you do the Ferry Building, try to go on Sat for the Farmer's Market and take the ferry out to Sausalito while you're at it. Make sure you grab coffee at the Blue Bottle cart. Or if you'd like, rent a bike, ride it across the Golden Gate, head down the hill to Sausalito, and take the ferry back (that way you don't have to climb back uphill). And check out the Marin Headlands if you get a chance.

It'd probably be a good idea to spend a weekend down in Monterey, little hard to see everything in one day. Try to do 17 mile drive later in the day so you can catch the lone cypress at sunset. Would recommend walking the beach in Carmel. And take your time coming back from Santa Cruz to drive the coast (instead of coming back on 17). Stop off at Natural Bridges and explore the tide pools at Bean Hollow. There's a little bakery/grocery store in Pescadero that makes awesome garlic artichoke bread, and the Mexican place in the gas station makes some super tasty tacos.

Too bad you don't like seafood, so many great places in the area. I like Fook Yuen in Millbrae for dim sum. While you're in Mountain View, walk Casto at night, plenty of places to try. Lots of chinese food by Ranch 99 in Milpitas too. Haven't been to Hot Pot City in a few years. For korean bbq, try Palace on El Camino in Sunnyvale.

Oh and if you like meat, try Espetus in SF (Gough & Market). Could probably make a whole day out of shopping at Haight Ashbury, the Castro, and Hayes Valley. For burgers, I've been going to St. John's on Lawrence in Sunnyvale almost every week. Val's in Hayward makes some damn good burgers too.

Forget all that junk, and get yourself a mountain bike. You will have a blast on the local trails.
