How he asked me...

Friend: hey fvckwad
MartyMcFly3: sup
Friend: i would like for you to stand with me as one of my groom's men for my wedding
MartyMcFly3: it would be an honor
Friend: good
Friend: now leave me the fvck alone
Friend: lol
MartyMcFly3: lol

While not the traditional style of asking someone, I thought it was damn funny. Im so excited for him. But I have no clue what the hell a groomsman does. Im 21 and the only wedding ive been to was my cousin's when I was like 6.

So what do I do as a groomsman?

You walk with teh hot/fat bridesmaid and get a free tux rental. And you get to pay for the bachelor's party.

He asked you via an IM?

Are they going to text message the vows to each other too?

I think you carry a ring. And nail the bridesmaid of your choosing.

I thought best man carried the ring.

Oh, my bad then. I guess you get to stand around in your tux, really. I think you lose out on the `choosing` part of the nailing someone from the bride's half of the wedding, but instead are stuck with whoever is available.

Like I said, it wasnt the traditional way of asking someone, but it was damn funny and still had the same significance.

my cousin asked me to be one of his groomsmen while we waiting in line at an A's game on a bobblehead day. kind of fitting since i didn't see my cousin much until we started going to A's games specifically for the bobbleheads, haha!

This describes it pretty much, most of the real responsibilities fall to the best man, you'll just need some cash to help pay for the bachelor party. Oh, and if you have to seat people at the wedding, wifes family to the left, grooms to the right.
