As I said, /etc/modules is the list of modules to load at bootup, not /etc/modutils.

also see if you have a alsaconf utility installed.

I can set up most of these files for you.

ok i added opl3sa2 to /etc/modules, but it didn't work.

where is the alsaconf located? (locate gives me an error when i try to run it)

i think i might reformat and reinstall DSL. then i can reinstall the dsl packages and start from scratch. maybe that'll help. /shrugs

i meant snd-opl3sa2, sry. here's what i put:

snd-opl3sa2 dma1=1 dma2=0 fm_port=0x388 irq=5 io=0x530 isapnp=0 midi_port=0x330

/etc/modules is just for modules to load, no options. Module options go into /etc/modules.conf which is generated from the files in /etc/modutils.
