I'm going on vacation in two months

I'm going to visit the M.E.

I was thinking Turkey and then flying over to UAE. Anyone been there? Any suggestions?

What are your reasons for going there, and then I can try to help a bit.

Graduation gift from the parents. I can go wherever I want and I want to go to the M.E.

I like the culture there and I've seen pictures of the M.E. It's a beautiful place. Places like Dubai are amazing. I've had friends go and they've had the best of time. Turkey I've also heard is a great place for tourist to go visit. I'm not trying to go to countries like Saudi Arabia. Just out of fear of something happening to me.

I wish I had money to stay in that 7-star hotel in Dubai, but it's $10,000 a night.

What do you want in the M.E.? I lived over there for a bit....do you want beach? cool cities? what? Do you speak any languages, as that will affect a lot of the choices as well. Dubai is great, Israel is pretty good, Cairo is beautiful...Libya is hitting it up, and there is always Turkey!

I didn't really expect the beach, but I saw Dubai was right on the beach which is an added bonus. I want to go to cities that have nice buildings. Most of the buildings are new in the Arab countries and they are beautiful.

I speak Farsi, but that won't come in handy.

I wouldn't mind to visit Egypt, but I think Egypt is only nice for historical sites. Cairo is very dirty from what I've seen. They have trash on the roofs of the buildings. There is a picture taken from the air of Cairo in the musuem here in D.C and all you see is trash. Then again I had a friend who was stationed there and he loved living there.

Libya? I never thought of that. What do they have there?

Israel is like Saudi Arabia. Don't want to go because of the risk of getting hurt. I wouldn't mind visiting Israel. The beach areas are beautiful.

Tripoli is a historic port city of Lybia IIRC. I think it's the capital city too.

It's a beautiful city, or it was. Been a LONG time, but I believe it's been restored and a popular place these days. I would go again.
