I'm going (first tme) to new york, what do I do?

Hey atot,

I'm planning on going to new york with my girlfriend december 28th-janurary 3rd. The total price that I've seen so far on orbitz.com has been averaging 1200.

1.) Can I trust orbitz?
2.) where do you recommend us to go? Should we just take taxis and tell them to take us places or explore with the subway?

check out craigslist.org for apts you can rent for days or weeks at a time during the holidays...usually rented out by owners...but definitely will be cheaper than paying for a hotel...one of my friends stayed a week in a one bedroom and i think paid less than a grand...
