I'm getting WinME despite you snobs!

Yes I am! I am! I don't know how you people can dis it so much. The automated system restore is something that was costing 10s of dollars before in itself. How can people be churlish enough to complain? Looking at an extensive review of MEs features on system file protection, multimedia, and relegating horrible DOS to a reboot (quite right too, is that so hard anyway?) it all seems very good to me.
But then I will be upgrading from an old Win95 that can't work with AGP and USB no matter how I try to patch it, and on a student license so...
Windows ME looks like giving us the PC that does everything for the common man!

It all depends on the hardware and software you like to run. If its all relatively new stuff without compatiblity problems.. go ahead! I run win98se, mom's pc win Me

Hmmm heard of lots of problems with WinMe. Seems like they have fixed some bugs but in the process some new came around. Most of the reviews seems to agree that Win98 is faster than WinMe.

But one of my friends have useed it for a periode of time now and he thinks it's more stable and a lot faster. So I guess it all depends on your hardware and what you'll use it for.

AoD 😉

I would boycott WinME for built-in SDMI compliance, if nothing else. That's a stab in your back, dear Paying Customer. Of course, since people generally don't know any better, they'll buy it all up.

Rigoletto, SDMI (Secure Digital Music Initiative) is a project undertaken by the recording industry to completely control which files (eg music) you can/cannot copy. Try the link in my signature (RIAA/SDMI). It's a fairly informative article about SDMI and its consumer rights problems.

You'd need to scroll down a bit to see the SDMI item. The news on top are quite outrageous also, but don't pertain to WinME. 🙂
