Thanks so much guys! I had to wait a little to see how stable the fix was thus the late post.

It looks as if Norton Antivirus was the culprit. I unchecked one option in it liked to Office and so far I haven't seen that error message I kept getting.

However, I know see another problem with Microsoft Word... Strangely enough and totally random, whenever I create a document in Word without saving it immediately after I begun typing, if the saving ?save as? is done later one the whole application shuts off and the document is lost. I even tried coping the entire document just to see if it works; when the shutting off happens, whatever I had copied (right click --- ?copy?) it?s totally erased, without a trace as if I never did it. Word doesn?t emergently save the document in an attempt to at least save some of it.

I hate MICROSOFT it?s crappy software! I tried re-installing without any change at all! Moreover, there isn?t a right way o TOTALLY uninstall Office! I did that and when re-installed back on the HD the same problem happened.

I don?t know? If this rigs a bell and anyone knows a fix for it please share it with me. I?m heading over Google and try to give a search. Hope to find something?

Thanks again!

OK... This is something I'm sure will help others. I think I found out why the "Save As" problem occurs. It is somehow linked to what I have previously encountered where the normal.dot has been corrupted and seemed to have caused a glitch in the saving routine in Word.

What I did was search for ALL instances of normal.dot on the HD with WORD NOT RUNNING; I came across of few (??) some being renamed to normal_test.dot, etc? I might have played with this a while back, I don?t know for sure, trying to understand the source of the problem but anyways, I DELETED ALL INSTANCES of this NORMAL.DOT file then re-ran Word. The application created a Normal.dot file if none was present. It?s a template file (blank, if you will).

So far, I haven?t had any trouble saving using ?SAVE AS?. Imagine trying to write a research paper where you had been stayin? up for hours on end and time comes for saving your work? poooofff? the stuff is GONE! So far so good? I will post if anything changes.

Thank you all so much!
