I'm getting the most rediculous lockups...

About once every week I get to my computer to find that it's completely locked up. Mouse works, but clicking on anything just produces the sandtimer. CTRL ALT DEL doesn't respond. I'm forced to restart via reboot button. Windows asks to scan the disk for inconsistencies, scans, and boots just fine. This is where it gets weird.

A lot of program settings from ones that were running at the time of crash are flat out gone.

Kaspersky Antivirus believes it hasn't done a full system scan yet (which it has).

Mozilla plugins don't work - SessionSaver doesn't save any sessions. The skin reverts back to the default Firefox.

uTorrent - Acts like it's my first time starting up. Asks for network specs, download directories, and all torrents that used to be downloading aren't remembered by the program. I have to manually add back the torrents that I remember as not being finished.

Any ideas? I hate how Windows crashes and gives absolutely NO reason for doing so. There needs to be system logs that a user can check! I hate this ****** guessing game... if no obvious reason, update drivers, if still doing it, try to isolate the program, if cannot, reformat. Bullshit.

System specs are:
WinXP
3000+ 754 pin
2.5GB DDR400 RAM
Shuttle AN51R nForce3 250
GPU, CPU, Mobo Chip watercooled
2-3yr old WD 80GB as main HDD
500W Fortron Blue Storm

Run memtest 86 on loop overnight, see if it turns up any errors on your memory.

/edit what are your temps like?

There is a system log a user could check.

Control Panel -> Administrative Tools ->Event Viewer

Check for errors and/or warnings and see if anything shows up.
