I'm giving somebody 250$ for a sub and the receiver.

Is there anything I need to know about the receiver? Any reason you wouldn't buy it? I'm mainly listening to music and sometimes watching DVDs. I'm in college so I'm just going to borrow DVDs from the library for a couple years. No HD DVD or Blu-Ray for me. As for the receiver, it's going to power a 2.1 system for a while until I pick up more speakers (if I choose to; I'll be living in a dorm so that's debatable).

No reason you shouldn't...it's a good receiver.

I'm trusting your wise judgment on this...

edit: There's no HDMI on this.

I don't know what you mean by CL however, the difference is quality. Yes the second receiver seems to have HDMI. However, it cannot process the audio off the HDMI making it effectively useless in my opinion. The receiver you are looking at is a good starter receiver with all the features you should need starting out. For the price your paying its a steal.

Overall it looks like a very nice receiver. I just hope you have some nice speakers to go with it :)
