i did LOTS of transferring of hardware...not sure that should cause it though. is there a way to fix it withough reformatting? i was thinking rewriting the boot.ini thru the recovery console with a windows disc (win 2k pro on both systems)...not sure if it will work though. i dont if this is a virus or what it is. please help if you can!

hmmm...ok ill do that. and if that doesnt work, should i try the fixmbr? and if THAT doesnt work, another reformat 🙁?

Fixmbr wouldn't hurt anything as long as its not RAID (It mightn't then, but would need to know more details just in case).

What drives have you got in your system?

CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2000
Motherboard: ASUS A7V400-MX
Memory: 768MB DDR-400 RAM (ram is ddr-400, mobo supports up to 333) (1x512 1x256)
Storage: 80GB Western Digital IDE 8MB 7200 RPM, and Maxtor 40GB IDE 2MB 5400 RPM (i think)
Video: LeadTek GeForce 128MB DDR (AGP)
Sound: Integrated
PSU: Tsunami 400W (came with case, getting Sparkle 380W delivered soon!)

You're getting a message that Windows can't find your hard drive (aka your boot device). Have you changed anything having to do with the disk subsystem?
