Im getting a "Waiting for the Network" message when trying to connect wirelessly to my network.

After upgrading the firmware on my Dlink WBR 1310 ver. A router I am no longer able to connect wirelessly to my router with my laptop. It keeps hanging at the "Waiting for the network" message and then just eventually stops. What do I have to do to get connected? Dlink's Indian helpdesk was completely worthless and I cannot find any useful information about this online.

Also,

- I have security turned off
- I have reset both the router and modem multiple times
- I have power cycled the router and modem mutiple times
- I have tried repairing the connections, and flushing the dns.

The wireless light on my router is blinking (I couldnt find any information on that) and so is the "pc" light on my modem. I can use the internet on my main PC just fine.

Any help is appreciated.

Do you have your modem in Bridge mode?

If you have DSL and have the modem in PPP mode w/ user name/password and then ALSO have a user name/password on the wireless router, then you could get a frazzling conflict.

Set the modem to bridge mode and power cycle. Have the PPOE set on the wireless router. And click the "always on" setting on the router.

If you're bringing the laptop out of hibernation, it may still miss the connection. In this case, reboot the lappy and you should get a signal. This is what I have to do with my POS wireless router about half the time.

BTW, DLINK tech service in India is a waste of time. Get your help on the internet forums.

If you weren't having such issues with the old firmware, why don't you revert back?.......

I appreciate the effort but I have just tried putting it in bridge mode and it still doesnt work.

It is the "WLAN LED" that is constantly blinking along with the light that looks like an up arrow. And its not blinking as in transfering data, its blinking rhythmically.

Maybe you're not obtaining an IP address from your provider (you're getting 192.168... instead of something else like 69.355...). There should be a "connect"/"disconnect" feature for releasing the address. It may take a couple of minutes for your router to get a new IP address.

Did you call your provider for support? They should be able to talk you through this step. If you can surf wired, then you know it's the wirless portion that you need to iron out....

Yeah I went out and got a new router just to be sure that it wasn't faulty and I recieve the same error.
