I'm getting a free PowerMac G4 QuickSilver... What should I do with it?

If I remember off the top of my head, it's an 800 mhz G4 with 1.5 gb of memory. I forgot what kind of memory. It should be here in 2-3 days...

Any ideas? It's an oldie... But hopefully I can get some kind of use out of it.

You could set it up as some sort of hardware firewall or download machine...even a server.

No need for a download machine or firewall... I'd love a server - too bad I live in a dorm and they'll shut down my connection if I run a server :-/

Sell it while you can still get a few hundred dollars for it. Seriously. I can't think of any good use for that machine other than a firewall/server or a web browsing machine. Even the cheap MacMini will run circles around it.

800MHz G4? Not very powerful, not very useful. Can't run Leopard, so limited to Tiger at best, can't handle flash, so no good as a kid computer... sell it if you can.

Well I have it. It's not as good as I thought it'd be. Basically, my mom doesn't know anything about computers, so I had to make a guess based on how she described it.

PowerMac 450 mhz G4, 256 mb RAM. Those purplish-green ones with the silver sides - plastic case with handles. The case is too short to mod into a viable PC case for most configurations since the PSU is mounted sideways.

I was hoping to do something cool with it. If money wasn't so tight, I'd love to build a Hackintosh inside of it.
