I'm getting a biopsy this morning...wish me well :)

About a year ago, I noticed a lymph node in my...ahem...pelvic area that was pretty large while I was doing some hardcore training for a marathon. This summer, I went to my doctor, and he took a blood sample from my arm, and also scheduled me for a biopsy today. My bloodwork from this summer was completely normal, so it's likely nothing serious.

But this morning, just to get a definitive answer, I'm going to the office to get a biopsy taken of the node itself. I'm not really nervous about the procedure; I'm more nervous about the results.

CLIFFS NOTES:
I'm gonna get stabbed by a large needle in my groin this morning. 🙂

Update: the procedure hurt like a mofo! OMG, I'm totally not scared of needles, but even after I was numbed up on general anesthetic, those needles made my whole body tense up! I'm not squeamish, but lymph nodes must really hate getting poked. I had to get poked four times! 🙁

I should have the results next week. Hopefully they'll be good news.

UPDATE II: Results normal, nothing to worry about.

Here's your chance to wear those clean pair of shorts you've been saving for a rainy day...good luck to ya....

Didn't they ask you if it was numb?

I had one a couple weeks ago and they must have stuck me 20 times, and they kept asking "can you feel that, if you feel anything, tell us" ...

I didn't feel a thing!

5 stitches to boot 🙂

for some reason the first time i read the topic my mind registered it as "I'm getting an autopsy this morning...wish me well 🙂" ... then i thought wtf? Read it again and I was like "ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.........."

In case anyone cared 😉

It's ok, I had subway for lunch.

LOL

Best of luck with the results. But it's been about a year and it's just now getting checked? I realize your doctor scheduled the biopsy for today when you saw him last summer, but that still leaves several months where you did nothing. Why?

In hindsight, it would have been prudent to see the doc right away. But my dad is also a physician, and he looked at it, and said I could wait until I came home from school to see a doc, asl long as it doesn't change size. But my dad said that if it changed size or got lumpy, to go to an ER right away.

It didn't change size, and there were no adverse symptoms, so I didn't go. But you're right...I should have.

My stepdad had a needle biopsy to his face a couple years ago without anesthetic. My mom was there and said she almost passed out from seeing them do it. She said he didn't even flinch.

I guess after years of pain (critically wounded in Vietnam, one upper jawbone removed and replaced with a steel bar 15 years ago, broken hip that hasn't healed correctly after almost 10 years, and a couple dozen other problems), it was just another day at the office...
