I'm in a rut right now, my body fat has been at a steady 13% body fat yet my weight has fluctuated between 170 and 176. I'm trying to get my body fat down to 9% but everything I do, I'm still unable to get it down to 9%. In order for me to get my body fat to 13%, I have to weight train/work out and eat less (drink water). Any ideas?

those scales are notorious for underreporting bodyfat. get a caliper and see where you really stand

If you are 6'2" and weigh 170-176, you aren't fat.

I'm 5' 9.5" tall and weigh 171, and I'm not fat.

um 13% body fat is well under average recommended is 15-18% for men, higher for women. Peopel's bodies are all built differently. and you may have a self image problem. 13% is nothing to be ashmed of. it is a very healthy body fat percentage. Some people naturally hover around 9% and some poeple hover around 30% it's all different and your body is just built the way it is for a reason. 9% may well be an almost unhealthy goal for you (I've seen people anywhere from 2-7% suffer from symptoms of lack of fat mass). Just accept the way you are built because it is well withing the health norm. heavy athletes average between 6-9%. Unless you are playing a sport on a regular basis, it is unreasonable to epect 9%. Weight lifting is a horrible way to lose fat. it is an anerobic non endurance excerise so it mainly burns off creatine/carbs. to truly healthily lose weight, you must participate in an endurance excerise reguarly.

edit: btw, i would love to go up to 13% bodyfat. 5'9" 145lbs. been trying to bulk up forever but cant gain weight here.

I used to be about 185-190 but when I finally saw the scale go upto 18% body fat I said f**k it! So I cut down on things and started to drink water but I still feel fat and I've got this little tiny "fat pack" on the bottom of my abdomen (right above the crotch).

13% is under the norm, and is not fat, and would be a healthy weight, no doubt about it, but anybody going for 9% is beyond health reasons and doing it all for vanity. I'm not slighting him for that, though. I'm about 12% now, and it took work to get here, and I plan on being 10%ish in a month. It's unnatural for my body, but that's not why I'm doing it :)

mildlyamused, if your normal weight is around 18% you can easily hit 9%, but you have to do it right. You need to post what you're doing :)
