Get a $20 stereo receiver off of Craigslist, attach speakers to stereo, get miniplug to 2 RCA (red, white) adapter from Radio Shack to connect the line out from the computer to the receiver.

The PC sound is line level, you need an amplifier in between that and unpowered speakers.

this.

i have an onkyo theater in a box hooked up to my PC in this manner. works nice for some games.

edit: but he wants to connect those speakers to an existing speaker system. i dunno why you'd do that. the z5300 isnt really set up for that.

I believe different versions of the z5300 have different connectors, but if you really wanted to do it without additional equipment, you should splice the powered output from the sub into bare wire and hook it into the speaker wire terminals in the back of the speakers.

That's the WRONG way to go about it. So is using your Logitech's. You have to watch the ratings of the amp and the speakers. You might not care about your speakers, but amp distortion kills speakers quickest. You will need a power amplifier (receivers have one along with a radio tuner and various inputs) and the proper inter connecting cables. See my sig for what I have... Just different speakers and a firewire audio interface, but same approach. My amp has unbalanced low-level RCA inputs, as do most amps. You have to pay attention to (in laymen's terms) watts, ohms, frequency response (not so much as the other 2, but with a sub amp/crossover you will only hear frequencies below whatever the LPF is set at (150Hz or so)). AKA you won't hear any guitars, drum cymbals, or vocals or anything most people hear with their little computer speakers in the higher range if you splice into a sub amp.

amp output on cheap computer speakers are set for small speakers...as said cross over is set for small sats. you need a separate amp/reciever.

Def need and amplifier between the PC outputs and the speakers.
