In the USA they call it Affirmative Action, not Equal Opportunity. It's never kept me from the job I want though.

go back in your family tree and find some minority (theres gotta be something) and put it down, if they question it. Either point it out, or sue them.

what happens if you tell them you are Aboriginal ?
do they make you prove it?
do they make you give them a DNA sample?

I like how it says "visible" minority. I guess it's not good enough to be (say) a latino with light skin who grew up overseas, or a black with unusually light skin...you have to LOOK like a minority so they can put your picture on their website!

It's bad I know, and I don't want to play the "raped and pillaged the land" card, but you asked for a reason...

I'm as white looking as they come but I am technically eligible for "Affirmative Action" because my great grandmother was full blooded Cherokee Indian. I just barely meet the minimum.

H3ll, I can legally open a casino.

Wow, I am surprised they actually would state that fact on the job posting. Sounds like grounds for a lawsuit!

Doesn't mean you'll automatically get the position if you're a first nations person.

Wrong.
AA and EO are different things.
Many job apps / postings you see in the U.S. will mention both. They will say that they are an AA and an EO employer. In reality, the two are mutually exclusive. Either you give equal opportunity to all applicants OR you give preferential treatment to some races over others (AA). You CANNOT do both.

That sucks dude. I've never seen that in Southern Ontario. But then again, they dont have to try hard to hire visible minorities here. lol

<- "visible minorty" thinking this is unfair as well.

I think we agree here. The job listing that the OP posted is AA and that's what I meant by my post. EO is what you said it was.
