Last I knew the X hasn't been rooted (this may have changed since last I checked). If that is the case and you have to run at stock, then I'd put my droid 1 OC'ed up against your X in terms of everything except screen size.
For me though, the D1 is about the right size. Bigger is not always better.
I'm at the year mark with the D1 as well, but fail to see anything worth upgrading too. The ability to root AND install ROMs is just too enjoyable for now. I love screwing around with other ROMs and it's very liberating to be able to do whatever I want with the phone.
Also, a friend told me the Incredible was rooted, but Froyo broke the way you root it. Basically if you had root pre-Froyo it's still rooted, but if you are on Froyo without rooting your SoL. I found that hard to believe but lack of any reading on the subject made me bite my tongue. Anybody offer any insights?
Sorry, but you are a little out of the loop lol. Froyo did break root on the Incredible... for about two days. The Incredible is actually probably one of the most root-friendly devices on the market. It has a great modding community.
The Droid X has been rooted. It can be overclocked. It has a few ROMs. The modding community is not nearly as big. I would say that it is a better stock phone than most though, so that isn't as big of a deal.
