OMG - visiting my father, surfing from his AMD 300MHZ computer wiht 64mb ram. It takes over 10 minutes to boot Windows 95 GAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH - I'm trying to convince him to get that Best Buy computer for 150 bucks..........

Because its the best computer money can buy.......10 years ago. Older people dont see the need to upgrade as much.

Even a 300mhz machine shouldn't take 10mins to boot up. Soundsl ike you may need to reinstall 95 for him. And tossing in a 256mb would do wonders for the system as well.

I'm on a 400mhz celeron laptop with 160mb ram (originally had 32mb until I upgraded it) for the weekend. Not as bad, but it can still be quite painful.

You're doing something wrong if it takes 10 mins to boot to 95. 486DX4 with 32Mb would take less than two minutes to boot 95. Clean his PC of spyware. 95 should fly on 300Mhz with 64Mb.

my old Cyrix 200MX system can boot windows 95 in like 10 seconds.
 
He has a crappy computer because, like most old people, he doesn't give a damn about technology and only wants to surf the web and get email.
