I'm dog-sitting a Marine Corp trained bomb dog.

Her name is Sheila. She's a Shepard mixed with another breed I cannot recall at the moment. She's retired from the Corp. My brother found out they were going to put her down and asked to adopt her.

She has a few medical problems, mainly hip issues, but she's the coolest damn dog I've ever met. And I never have to worry about bombs in my car or home🙂!

Sorry, no pics right now. I'll see what I can do about that tomorrow.

The question at this point is: you were worried about bombs in your car/home before you got this dog? Just what exactly do you do for a living? 😛

If she was trained in the Marine Corps, you can be assured that you're safe from any kind of terrorist bombs, and also the kind of "bombs" that most dog owners have to worry about.

Can she smell drugs? Do you ahve drugs? Has she smelled your drugs?

Heh...my friend's dad trains those. They're always barking at me, for no reason!

I dare you to look into Sheila's eyes and say.. 'you're da bomb' or play RATM's bombtrack .. lol

Im sure she must have been un-trained in order to function as a domestic pet 🙂

Enjoy your nite

Semper Fi doggie!!

Shelia says Semper Fi.

She's not trained for drugs (Thank God!....I mean...)

She was deployed at Gound Zero shortly after 9/11. As far as "un-training" her, I don't think that can be done. The process to adopt her was very long and very thourough. They don't normally do that sort of thing.

The only thing my dogs sniff are crotches.......and asses. They love to sniff crotches and asses. What is it with dog?😉

umm, isn't that essentially what humans do?!

Shephards are notorious for their hips going bad. As for loyalty, there are no better dogs. Not to mention she/he will eat any loser that wanders into your yard.

Vicious, just like a marine.

Semper Fi,

Gravity

That just gave me a good idea....

Find a not wanted drug dog and well go around and sniff out drugs and ... you know where I'm heading with this 🙂

.

By 'put down' do you mean killed?

Is it standard practice to 'put down' such dogs after they have been retired from service? Seems extremely cruel :frown:

Add an ex-police and firefighting dog and you can go around being some kind of dog training super-hero...
