I'm DLing "Wolfenstein Enemy Territory"

I wanted to share that with you all. Anyone play this thing? It's "only" a 240MB DL...how cool can it be as a stand-alone game? I'm about to find out. Be back later.

OK, we've got two "slightly different" opinions here. I like RCTW a lot. I've played online a few times, so I'm predisposed to thinking i'm gonna like this...unless it sucks, of course.

ET never ran as well for me as the original game. Maybe I just happened to connect to some suck servers? I deleted it. I still have the original game installed.

Heh, I'll be trying it out on my box here at work.

Dell GX270. 2.8GHz P4, 1GB PC2700, GF4 MX <--that just kills it, I know.

Yeah, the MX slows it but the rest of the system ought to make up for it. Play it at 800x600(or even 640x480) would be my recommendation. It should still run very well.

I've been playing original UT on it for awhile. At 1024x768x32 I'm getting 50-55FPS on most maps, which is entirely playable.

In that case you can easily run ET at that resolution. UT2003 is more demanding than this game... ET is basicly a Q3 expansion.

You?re able to download this and install all on company bandwidth and equipment. Here I thought I was slick sneaking in a backgammon game on a floppy and playing it during slow time.

its great, in my opinion.
and the price is perfect.

the game itself is quite nice. but as with every online game the more important thing is where you play it. there are some good servers out there with good players and good teamplay. but there are 10 times more sh1t-servers with uncapable idiots...

Couldn't agree more. I've been on some excellent servers where the players are great and I've been on some servers where I wanted to strangle people. The worst are when you a get a team full of panzer/airstrike whores. Take five steps and you're dead.

i find the game very entertaining. (if you get on the right servers) i can see why the game would be crappy if you dont know the objective of the mission.

i love being a covert op and stealing enemy uniform and run behind enemies for some good ol backstabs

also some n00bs seem to think it's CTF and complain after they were blown to pieces by your mines. :frown:

What's even worse is when it's people on your own team. It's a mine, don't go near it. It will kill you. It's not a power up or an item jackass.

I play it a lot and now that there are some good new maps out its even better. The only big problem besides the spawn campers is that almost none of the servers run any of the new maps.
