I'm dismayed at the Moderators...

Two weeks back I was banned for posting out of topic posts in the General Hardware forum. I was given a one-week ban. That is fine with me and it is something I can live with. Life isn't over, right?

Well actually wrong. First of all, I was banned right when I made a deal and I never copied the seller's address so I sent a request for me to access this information but I knew that a special request wouldn't be allowed. So I figured to suck it in for the week and then tell the seller that I am really sorry over the delay.

But that isn't what happened. Instead of being unbanned last Monday I was unbanned today. Last Monday I was not unbanned and every single day I sent in a request to be unbanned hoping for some kind of reply. Nothing came at all. So then I decided to message some of the well-known users on the boards and see if they can send in a request for me because their word will seem "more important"...or at least that is how I thought of it. The first person to come to mind was Mechbgon (sp?) but in his profile he did not list his e-mail address. So the next user to come to mind was Wingznuts and luckily I was able to send him a message and through him I was unbanned.

Doesn't it sound odd that the moderators won't know that after a week of unban requests that maybe *gasp* the user's ban has expired!?! I know, I know, it?s a ridiculous assumption but this is ludicrous. Do the moderators even check the inbox or not? I know at least 7 unban requests were sent in. Now it wouldn't bother me if there was no reply, but 24 hours later I could login to my account but as I stated earlier this was not the case.

I am not mad for being banned. I am not mad for probably pissing off a seller and maybe even getting on the bad traders list. What I am mad at is sending a plethora of e-mails with no response, resorting to contacting a 3rd party, request to them to ask a Moderator to unban me!

I realize I'm not a subscriber and this message is probably sucking up more bandwidth than it is worth...but how do you guys work? Are there still other users who are stuck banned and think the only way to get around is to just make a new username? I would expect more from this community just because it isn't composed of a bunch of prepubescent teens thinking solely about one thing.

D'oh, sorry about the lack of email visibility... I'm getting swamped with spam lately, some of it rather, uh... :Q:eek::disgust: ...yeah. So I disabled email visibility in hopes of evading the email-harvesting bots. :(

We all know what you where really doing Mech. Don't try to hide it. :D I have been hit with the same BS lately too. blah

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with the mods magamago. But the mods are a busy group of people. Trying to babysit the kiddies that are on here. It still suprizes me that they can get done what they do. I guess the only thing I would suggest would be to exchange Emails with the person you are dealing with as soon as you can. What would happen if TA servers had a bad crash? Good luck...

With the new version of FuseTalk there will be an option for the moderators to specify a length of time for a ban and have the software automatically unban the user after the time passes.

Obviously this doesn't help you but it's good to see that this timeout feature is finally being added.

TONS of them.

Not much else to say about this though. Yeah, it's ridiculous, yeah, it's unacceptable, yeah, it's irresponsible, yadda yadda. It's not going to change. Hopefully the auto-ban-timeout thingie in FT4 will at least put an end to this particular problem.

If the trade was taking place on this board, the traders are required to show their email address in their profile. Why couldn't you look at the profile of the person you were trading with and email him?
I say this from experience. The same thing happened to me and I just looked at their profiles and finished the deals via email instead of PM.

Unfortunately, the mods must remember to unban you. Same thing happened to me, but the mods were only off by a few days. since there are more than a single mod, that mod must rememer to unban you unless that mod told the other mods. this is why it took a efw extra days to unban me. at least 2 mods could ntot fiure out why I was banned.

This new feature on the auto unban is an excelelnt idea. it should cut down on mistakes and forgetfullness. keeping track of 100,000 members must suck.

Until the next update, perhaps the mods should start a post in their moderator only forum on banned memebrs so the other mods are kept abreast of banned members?

Same thing happened to me when I was banned. I deserved to be banned though because I flamed (actually broiled) an Elite forum member which i should have handled using PM's . The ironic part about is that the Elite member I flamed actually helped me get reinstated again!! Which I am extremely thankful for.

I wouldn't take it personal with 100K + of members it must be a nightmare to keep track of the banning.

tell me about it. i cant get anything out of them.

they change the FSFT rules at will, and my buddy is a good guy. Wouldnt hurt a fly or break a rule.

OK, we already told you why your "Buddy" was banned. One more word about it from you and you will join him.
