Last I heard it's illegal to use Christmas in public setting. Manufacturers are not even allowed to sell "Christmas trees" anymore, they have to label them Holiday tree. Not sure if it's all of US or parts of it, I'm not even sure if it's hit Canada yet (would not surprise me - it's just as bad here). They also can't use the word Christmas anywhere in their store.

You're a freaking moron. Are all your fellow nutters this bad?

Happy Holidays is not so bad, but it's when stuff like Christmas tree gets replaced. Not only is it removing Christ, but it sounds weird. "We're putting up the Holiday tree" sounds weird as opposed to "We're putting up the Christmas tree". Though the #1 piss off is people who say xmas. That would be like people using IM language in a business setting. Stop being so lazy and spell out the whole thing.

You call them "Christmas Trees", I call the "Asherah Poles". You should call the "Asherah Poles" too, because they came first. Quit PCing my Pole!!!!!!!

I am glad that it is holiday and not christmas. I am all for getting rid of any religious gatherings or celebrations. Fuck religion.

Don't like religious gatherings or celebrations? Don't participate. As I pointed out above, holiday is derived from holy day so you're still talking religion. Don't get me started on the days of the week.

P.S. You're trolling skills are weak, too obvious.

Christmas isn't a religious gathering, it's a celebration of family, peace, and goodwill.

😕 Christmas was created by the Catholic Church sometime before 400AD to compete with Roman seasonal feastivals. All their members were having fun with the Romans, so the church made their own version to celebrate the birth of Christ.

So...yeah...it IS a religious gathering. The modern version of Christmas didn't come about until the mid 1800's, where some of the gifts exchanged were the result of the spirit of "St. Nicholas" visiting the house during the night.

Human nature soon stripped the stuff deemed boring or tedious from the holiday, and today we have a holiday that focuses around how many presents we can exchange.

That's the so-called Christians who are to blame. Don't blame the atheists for taking Christ out of Christmas, the believers beat us to it.

Sorry, YOUR Christmas gathering might be religious, mine and many others is not. My holiday isn't focused on presents at all, it's on togetherness, goodwill, charity, and there are some small gifts. Also on eating too much and drinking.

You are responsible for what the focus of your holiday is on. Lots of things that happened in 400AD aren't the same today. Lots of things that happened before that aren't either. Eat, drink, and be merry, you are alive and will survive another winter through the help of your community.

WE LIVE IN AMERICA, IT'S CALLED CHRISTMAS.

I am not religious for the record but I think this politically correct crap is idiotic and ridiculous. I am sad to see that commercials, TV, etc are still using the term 'Holiday' from last year.

Anyone else agree this is stupid?

EDIT: Minus a few, most think I'm an idiot (which is fine). Just wanted to show I'm not the only one 🙂

no... I thought before that it was, but now that I am dating a jewish person I do not. I think that holiday works better b/c there are different holidays that everyone celebrates. like christmas and Hanuka so who are we to say that we are only celebrating christmas or that you are wishing a jewish person for example a merry christmas when they celebrate Hanuka. so yea, who are you to say that its only christmas?

OP, yes, it sickens me to see political correctness continue growing. I try to avoid stores who resort to calling it some other name just to be politically correct.

PC? You guys are just upset that they won't listen to your PC. Funny thing though, they don't deny XMas, they just don't choose from a number of options and specify XMas.

Sucks to be you.

Me too! I only patronize stores that refer to it by it's original name. Happy Sol Invictus!

It was a custom of the Pagans to celebrate on the same 25 December the birthday of the Sun, at which they kindled lights in token of festivity

happy holidays is easier to say than merry christmas, happy new year, happy hannuka, happy thanksgiving and happy kwanzaa.

Uh sure, but when the store is playing Christmas music, with Christmas decorations, and using Santa in their ads etc, then it's not just a "holliday", it's Christmas. If they simply want to advertise it as a generic holliday, fine, but then don't use all the Christmas stuff and call it something generic.

No.

I support it, I don't believe Jesus was magical so I don't celebrate his "birthday".

I didn't celebrate your birthday, does that mean that you're not a magical frog?
