I'm currently assembly a build and I REALLY need what is the best play.

I have a asrock z97 extreme6 and arc midi R2. The Arc comes with its own fan controller and it came with 3 140mm fans. One in the front one in the top and one in the back. I took the one in the front and put 2 in the front (as I put corsair h100i cpu cooler). My dilemma is what is the best option for cooling. Should I connect the fans into the MOBO and let it control the fans or should I use the R2 voltage controller (5,7,12). If I'm reading the manual correctly the case has 5 fan controllers built in. The only thing I don’t understand there Is a 4 pin cpu fan and right next to it a 3 pin cpu fan (The h100i connects with a 3 pin though there's only 1 actual connection in the connection). Is the speed controller on the case or connect to the MOBO?

fans on a radiator should always be on voltage controller.

As you want your coolant to be as cold as possible.


The fan controller on a fractal design case is typically a switch on the rear which goes from low to high.

The case has a switch up front for 5-7-12v and the case came with 3 140mm fans. i installed a corsair h100 so now i have 2 up front and one in the rear. Im trying to find out what is the best way to setup these fans (or others if need be like PWN). For ex, is it better to connect the fans to the MOBO fan inputs and get rid of the case controller.

OR should i get 3 PWN and slit them off the cpu with a

Dont get it, corsair says to hook up the single 3 pin to the mobo 3 pin cpu fan.
 
Here's what I would do if I had that hardware.

I'd start with the 4-pin PWM CPU fan, and deploy the fan on either of two different locations from center to back of case. I'd put a Swiftech 8W-PWM-SPL-ST splitter on the second CPU_FAN with 4-pin. At that point, I could control the speed of several PWM devices -- maximum 8 of them -- that could be mixed or homogenous according to % Duty Cycle. Then I'd add all the case intake fans I could manage, and put them on the CHA_FAN[N] plugs from 1 to whatever the mobo offered. If I were doin' it right, I would choose just the minimum of case fans with the largest cumulative intake flow, and focus a single stream of output to a more powerful single exhaust fan -- usually at the rear, but there are variations.

If I still had fans, I'd then start adding to the Case fan controller. But if I could manage the whole system with the motherboard BIOS, PWM and fan circuitry together with some BIOS options and some proprietary Windows software, I'd be happy not to use the case controller unless it could provide the same functionality. And, after all, the first control system above them all would be the motherboard's.
