I've long contended that a large portion of those voting in the last few elections haven't so much voted for someone as against. The lesser of all possible evils thing.

I'm wondering if this applies here and with the list of potential candidates. I plan on making the identical poll after the Rep and Dem candidates are confirmed.

there are no candidates likely to get the nomination that I dislike enough to vote against, though I'd probably vote against Edwards, Paul, or Rudy if either got the nod.

Currently voting FOR a candidate and there is a very good chance I will still be voting FOR a candidate once candidates are nominated. The past two elections I've been voting AGAINST a candidate

I'd only vote for a candidate...voting against one simply means I support another arse hole who might not have had a chance to prove that he could be a bigger arse hole.

I don't think there is anyone I can vote for in good conscience. Is abstaining considered a vote against everyone?

Right now I am going to vote against GWB's war, economy, and domestic and foreign policies.

In the primaries, I will definitely be voting FOR a candidate. However, come time for the general election, that may not be the case. Depending on who is selected from each party, I may be voting AGAINST one of them. I am still unsure as to the which party candidate I will be voting for in November. I have more hanging on the primaries as my state is deeply red. Who knows what the final choices will be. I just hope I don't leave the voting booth wanting to take another shower like last time.

In the general election, I expect to be voting AGAINST a candidate.

The primary (usual) offers a pretty wide-range of candidates. There always seems to be somebody that I can actualy support based on the issues. Unfortunately, with just 2 candidates, the general election usualy turns out to be me voting against one or the other. (I.e., my primary choice never seems to get the nomination.)

I voted "yes" above because we're now only in primary season.

I guess that remains to be seen, it depends on which two clowns we end up having to pick from. If Paul were to win the repub nomination, I'd vote for a candidate, otherwise it's going to have to be a choice of the lesser of two evils again.

You could at least vote for yourself in good conscience I would think? I have written myself in in the past and felt pretty good about it.

I couldn't write myself in in good conscience since I'm only 27. In fact, that might actually be a federal crime. :p

Good point! I've never written myself in for a presidential race so I guess I'm clear on that one (27 also).

Voting for Ron Paul is the only vote that is against the status quo. If not Paul, I have a hard time convincing myself of voting period.

If you're going to vote for RP you might as well save your time and enjoy the day off.

For the primary, I will be voting AGAINST Hillary (for Obama, I would vote for Richardson, but realize he doesn't stand a chance).

In the general election, it depends who the candidates are. If neither RP or Hillary is nominated by their respective parties, I will be voting AGAINST the Republican, although in the case of Huckabee vs. Obama that would be a tougher choice.
If RP is nominated I will for the first time ever be voting FOR a candidate.

If it's Hillary vs. McCain, Guiliani, or Thompson I probably won't stick around for the election.
