I'm Confused... Logitech X-540's

I got the Logitech X-540s and I am needing a new sound card. The 540s have 3 plugs (green, black and orange I believe) but all the sound cards I am looking at only have the one green jack. I want true 5.1 support from my sound card without having to use the matrix mode on the speakers. What should I buy?

Which soundcards are you looking at? Soundcards are not all color coded the same. Any modern soundcard should support 5.1 via analog just fine.

Often soundcards (and especially integrated sound) will have jacks that can be assigned different duties. For example an integrated sound solution that could be configured for stereo out, mic, and line-in... or it could be stereo out / surround out / center+sub out.

I've mainly been looking at the Creative cards, possibly the X-Fi gamer. But from the pics they all seem to have stereo out, mic, line in and the SPDIF jack. Shouldn't the card I need have 2 extra jacks? I need the mic jack, so I don't want to reassign anything.

Are you looking at this card?

The little white jack on the end can be assigned to Mic duty.

The green, gray, and orange jacks can do 5.1

No problem.

Just to mention as well... the low profile X-Fi cards are not going to be as good as the full sized cards if you can get one of those on a budget.

hey, i got the same speakers today. but i dont want to get a new sound card..is it ok if i just plug the green jack on my comp and leave the 2 others on nothing?

Edit: damn, only 2 of the 5 speakers are working... will any of the following sound cards enable all my speakers to work??
