Yup, the CPU for video editing and audio production. 12 threads wow.

Who has one of these chips like a Sandy Bridge E or top of line Ivy.

What are your thoughts on it, having payed about 600 dollars compared to a 260 dollars 2700k ? Thanks

I have an X6 :D.

I don't do video editing or audio production though. I just run 6 instances of Minesweeper...

I own an i7 970 and a 3930K. Both are awesome chips and do what I want. I mainly use them for Distributed computing.

I don't understand what you're asking. If an Intel hex-core is worth the price? If your time or computational demands are valuable and your software supports the threading then the answer is obvious.

It was, for the most part, a waste of money. But then I was too lazy to swap it back out for my 2600K so I kept the 3930k. I'll probably end up ditching it for a quad Haswell anyway.

Why is that pancake using a bunny as an undergarmet?

Fur is murder, people, even if it is worn in the name of keeping your pancakes warm.

Personally I feel that cinebench is a great indicator of how well video/audio editing software answers in real time editing scenarios in stuff like reaper or vegas.

Althought I can almost only try lower end cpus :'(
