I have found a good deal here: http://www.247electrical.co.uk/epages/t...020f01060d/Product/View/SONKDL40S2010U

I live in UK and I believe thats the best deal around, can someone confirm that?

This has definitly got good dimensions, it fits just right where I want to put it. So I think I will stick with 40 inches or maybe slightly smaller..

Can someone help me out here... find some other good TVs and deals if there are any. Or confirm this a good TV and deal.

Thanks.

And if you need more information please post.

And am I right in saying that LCD TVs are better than Plasma?
Oh and make sure its HDTV.

EDIT: ok I fond this http://www.247electrical.co.uk/epages/t...20f01060d/Product/View/SONKDL40V2000U#
Is it worth it to buy that one and spend £260 more? Whats the difference?

the links you post don't show a TV, so I'm not sure what model you're talking about.

Is LCD better than plasma? No. In general, plasma has better black levels, contrast, and pixel response (no ghosting). LCD is cheaper and no worry about burn in (a real problem if you use it for PC display).

Of course if you compare a top notch LCD with an average plasma, the first will look better. And now that there are 1080p LCDs (1080p plasma still rare and expensive), the scale tips to LCD somewhat.

Ultimately, you have to go look at the displays yourself to see what looks good to YOU.

Yeah, the link is broken, but judging from the url this is the display in question.

It's a nice LCD, but like Pctwo I prefer quality plasmas personally; offerings from Panasonic, Pioneer and NEC being notable options. But again like PcTwo, I recommend hitting up the stores and seeing what suits your tastes.

Ok the direct links dont work, I dont understand why. Go to www.247electrical.co.uk and search for these TVs then can you tell me why is the SONY KDL40V2000U better than the SONY KDL40S2010U ?

Is it worth spending £260 more?

I think that LCDs are better since they last longer. Is that correct?

Doh, I searched for the model number from your orginal url but didn't even bother to check that I got the right page. Here is the right page on Sony's site. The difference being the more expensive one has more advanced color processing, but whether that is worth the price difference is really something you'd have to decided for yourself.

As for plasmas lasting, modren ones have a usable lifespan of 60,000 hours which comes up to over 20 years at 8 hours a day every day, so really no worries there. ;)

Oh right thanks.

Aren't LCDs supposed to be better quality as well though?

Better quality how? I've never seen an LCD with image quality that can keep up with a first-tier plasma. But again, your best bet is to hit up the showrooms and see for yourself.

Well that is just one of the main differences I hear about between Plasmas and LCDs

Interesting how in a computer oriented forum that LCDs are the be-all end-all. Go to a home theater forum and it's a whole different story. Problem with LCD flat panels compared to other techs is that they are built small (40-42 inches though a couple get up to 46 inches I think), are expensive (for the screen size you are buying), and usually can't do 1080i/p. And on top of all that is that they don't outperform plasmas. The rear projection LCDs have bad blacks and a bad problem with screen door effect. I own a 50 inch Panny plasma and when I bought it over a year ago, the LCD flat panels were not even under consideration for the reasons I mention.

Duh? Plasma beats any other formats anytime. I own both platforms, Plasma and LCD, myself. Plasma simply wins out just about everything you can throw at it. ie btb, colors, brightness, sharpness etc. etc.
