Some of you people are talking as if the number of games out now for Xbox will remain the same but of course thats not true.
Sure there's a wait for more xbox games but PS2 went through the same cycle in the beginning. And the games can only get better IMO, look at PS2 now, a year ago most of the games were dreamcast quality. The same applies to xbox. So I say Xbox is the way to go.

Well, the Xbox definitely has a better start than the PS2 did, third-party support is already building fast. The Xbox's roster will eventually include (if it doesn't already): the Madden Series, the Sega Sports series, Jet Set Radio future (that's an interesting-looking game to say the least...deserves more attention), the Sega GT series, Shenmue (sp) 3 (I believe), Soul Calibur 2, Ridge Racer 6, Metal Gear Solid X (2 remix, possibly 1 included as well), Grand Theft Auto 3, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, (inhales) Dragon's Lair 3D (interesting for me, being a fan of the original), Halo, Dead or Alive 3 (as good as it is it's underrated), Amped, SSX Tricky, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x (compilation of 1 & 2), Max Payne, Raw is War, Enclave, and others I can't think of right now, I'd say that's not too shabby of a library wouldn't you? On top of that, all those games have the potential to not only look better on the Xbox, but have more features as well, such as custom soundtracks and shorter load times.

hmmm playstation 2 has sold almost 20 million units worldwide...i think it'd be the safest bet if you were counting on a system that would last you the longest

the dreamcast had an excellent launch too...so it's hard to tell how well x-box will do

ps2 had a crappy launch(lack of systems) and look where it's at now (see above) :)

me and my bro are getting the PS2 for 3 main reasons:

1: We want a DVD player for the TV, not a PC with 4 case fans hooked up with the TV-Out (OK, X-Box will do that aswell but xBox is over 150$ more expensive then PS2 here in Germany)

2: We already have had the PS1 for over 2 years now and would like to keep some of the games... the backwards compatability of the PS2 is a great selling point"

3: Alot of our friends have PS2 and so trading and borrowing games is possible

<< Never buy old stuff, and the PS2 is nearly 1.5 yrs old! Would you buy a video card for your computer that old? I didnt think so. And the GameCube is just plain uninteresting to me. >>

Ya know, the system i play on the most now is the dreamcast and that's pretty old. i only bought it a year ago. and you can't use that analogy. that's like saying what would you buy when the p4 bearly came out? the new p4 or the good reliable piii that you know is going to work perfectly?
