I'm bummed out today - my cat died yesterday

I had to make the tough decision at the vet yesterday - I had my cat and companion of 12 years "put to sleep". He started having problems breathing the night before and was in a lot of pain. The vet said he had a tumor or some kind of mass in his abdomen & I could not stand to see him in such pain.

🙁

I miss him dearly. He was a gift on my birthday from my wife the year before we got married. he was my only compainion in the house for a while when I first moved out on my own 12 years ago (until we got married and my wife moved in). The hardest part was telling my son (he is 5) that Dusty was gone. 🙁

Getting ready for work will never be the same without my "little brown buddy" sitting on the vanity top waiting to greet me as i get out of the shower.

Pets, unfortunately, are things that are almost as dear to us as our own siblings, or SOs, and they are the ones to depart before them, to another world. So sad. Hopefully, you will get over it without much misery.

My cat Smokey used to do that every morning when I shaved. She passed away at 17 a few years back.

awww..I'm sorry...I had a cat die November 2004, the 'batch' of cats he was from though, stretched all the way back to 1984 when I was 3....when he died I was 23. I still miss him, and all the cats I've had. Did you bury him in your yard?

I couldn't (village doesn't allow it) 🙁. My wife's parents have own a decent amount of land around their house out in the country, so we buried him there last night by where we keep our camper parked. He is now resting eternally next to our female cat, Precious, who we lost two years ago.

sorry about your loss, i fear that my cat who's diabetic will go soon, but i cherish everyday that i have with him.

are you getting another one?

Cherish that time, those "trivial" moments with him don't seem so trivial to me now! We have two young cats we received as kittens a year ago, so the house is not "cat-less". Strange as it sounds, it helps with them being here...........but no cat will ever "replace" Dusty 🙁

I know what your going through. I had my cat for 14 years when I noticed a her tongue was pushed off to the side about 3 weeks ago. It turned out to be a tumor. The tumor grew trippled in size in only 6 days. The poor cat began drooling. The next day I had to put her to sleep. I didn't want to put her through any more pain. Seeing her for the very last time was the hardest thing i've ever been through. I'm tearing up just typing this. 🙁

I love cats...it's too bad they go so quickly.
