I'm beginning to think there should be an AT Programming FAQ

With so many repeat questions, there should be an official FAQ ;)

Top question asked:

"What programming language should I learn?"

and perhaps...

"Do I really need to buy Visual Studio.NET in order to learn .NET?"

There are many more, but those are the ones that immediately came to mind, as they're asked quite frequently.

i second this motion.

i think we need a separate forum for programming threads as to games or other apps threads.

...and lists of recommended books for learning C++, Win32 (Petzold!), MFC, Java, etc. :)

One problem is that there is a lot of opinion (and religious fervor) involved, so the writer(s) would have to try to control any bias they have for/against particular languages, APIs and OSes.

Well, I await your contribution.

You don't expect to just sit back and make ME write EVERYTHING, do you?

Nice move. I didn't realize that this thread existed.

I'm going to write up a few FAQ entries. Mostly on .NET and some on silent computing.
