I'm Back!!! Just came back after 9 months of UD

I have decided to come back to Seti for now. The lack of cacheable WU's was causing my CPU to run idle (at -20c) and condensation was causing some issues when the UD server was not responding.

So ... I am back to Seti. At least for now.

Glad to have you back, skrill 🙂

We have lost a lot of participation in the last few months due primarily to the bandwidth problem at Berkeley. Thankfully that is behind us and you will be able to download/upload at a very brisk pace once more. Hope to see others follow your lead. 😉

Welcome back, skrill! As Smokeball said, you shouldn't have any problems with Berkeley and bandwidth anymore! I'd still recommend using a program to cache WU's. Either SetiQ or SetiDriver. That way your PC will have work all the time. 🙂

Nice rig BTW. That thing should really crank out the WU's!

BTW, in case you are wondering -- w/ Seti running my CPU stays warm and toasty at -10c (the nice thing is that it never fluctuates). When I was doing UD, the temp would drop to -20c between work units and whenever the UD server was down (which was a lot).

Welcome back skrill! 😀

Enjoy yourself...stop by often! 🙂

Crunch...crunch...crunch...and...

more...more....more! :Q

come on....come on.....we still gotta know your ave. seti w/u times on that monster

edit.....gotta be way under 3 minute times.....

I don't know. My stats are available on the Orangekid proxy -- but I must admit I am a bit of a knob as far as deciphering.

Also, I am not currently running the 3.0 ghz ES chip. I am running a 1.6a Retail @ 2.6 ghz.

I had to send the ES chip away (back home 😉)

I'm sure we can convince you to stay skrill Welcome back to the TeAm

I don't now. I have to say the primary purpose behind UD is great (new treatments for Cancer), and the reseach has already helped to find new potential treatments for Anthrax.

Welcome back Skrill 😀

Yeah we gotta know your WU times😉 (off to check OK's Q.........)
Btw how the heck did you get hold of an engineering sample cpu!???:Q😀

Just thought I'd mention UD monitor as a method of caching work units for UD. I have 2 machines that use it (I only see them once a week) and it keeps them busy when their unable to talk to the ud server. Not that I have anything against Seti, just nervous with DSLR breathing down our necks in UD. We need to pick up some more power in the next month or we'll be roadkill.

I can't say how i got the ES.

It was actually a 2.53 ghz ES chip -- that o/c'ed to 3 ghz easily.

It also was very nice because it had multipliers 12 - 19 available, making it very adjustable. Oh well, too bad it had to go back.

Hey you are on the same boat as me! 🙂

Good to see 😀
