At moment Im in icehockey arena with about 2800 other computer owners. Just think what 2800 computers could do 😀. If you are intrested in seeing some pics do look.

Assimilate at will. I repeat ASSIMILATE AT WILL!!!!!! LOL
Do you want me to send you the flex installer? LOL

What's this particular show/party? I notice a number of folks playing Counterstrike - one of my favorite games! 🙂

Someone's going to have one heck on an electric bill this month! :Q 😀

WoW! 😀

What kind of cover charge is there for something like that?

LOL@MoFunk. 😀

It would be cool to get the entire lot to run SETI for the weekend (with permission of course). Heh, talk about a boost in your stats! 😉

Actually I saw an advirtisement for a SETI group 🙂. This primilary a Demo party. But most of the people play games like CS. With pings between 5 to 15 its quite nice (not LAN). We have a 1Gb net and in 4 days we download at least a few Tb 🙂. I can download at about 500kb/s but warez is not allowed. 🙁

EDIT: Oh yea I forgot. The ticket is 65e for a computer place, which is about 70$? The LAN is at Hartwall Arena, Helsinki. Homepage www.assembly.org.

OMG!!

Thats HUGE!!!

I LIKE IT !!! 😀 😀 😀

"Fire up the 2nd warp core Scotty... We'll need the extra power for that 'LAN' party."

F*** me thats HUGE!! :Q:Q😀😎

Man thats gotta have made a big dent on the local power grid! 😉

Hmm ,lets see ,2800x125w (average power used by PC not inc monitor!),PCs alone are using 350kW!:Q *me faints*

How much does a monitor draw?

I'm surprised that buildings power grid can take it!

Plus all the lights and stereos... Their saying that the max one computer place is allowed to us is 300W.

That is one nice lan party. But I really think your over estimating Power of PC's. I think the halegen lights in a stadium alone not to mention the heating and airconditioning for one basketball game would generate twice as much power.

Too bad warez were not allowed but who would know? I am sure GIG's of MP3's were flying around in that place! Sheesh, you'd have to bring in a box of 200 gig hard drives in with you keep swaping them like floppies when they get full! 🙂

Can you just imagine the noise from the fans! hehe Not sure if I would feel even, "noticed" in a place like that. hehe Cool tho...

I, for one, would HATE being there. It looks very crowded and VERY hot.

On a side note, I wonder how they managed to get over 2.5 thousand computers to talk to not only eachother but the Internet as well. I can barely keep my 5-node LAN functional! :Q

Yea I noticed that when I went under the table to get some sleep. I had nothing else than a pillow so sleeping on a concrete floor was quite nice 😀. The humming is about the same as driving in a car on a freeway. Maybe not as sharp so it doesnt annoy as mutch.

Well I went to sleep at 6 AM slept till 8 AM an then gamed a bit and slept an hour again cos the net wasnt working in our table 🙁. You can really feel the fact that you have slept three hours cos I cant think straight.

Better pic Im on lowest floor in the right corner closest to the photographer.

Very 😎

It is easier for you guys to pull a Monster Event like that off because they run 220 Volt line all over instead of the 110 Volt here. The cable is half the size but gives twice the current (Amps). The Switching Power supplies don't have to work as hard as the 110 Volt versions here in the U.S.

David hit the nail on the head. Lower temps because the power supplies
don't have to work as hard...

VERY COOL Event!

Thanks Mardeth.

They just have to have different standarts 🙂.

I dont think the organizer that much of money.

If 2800 pay 65e = 182000e
plus
only entry 2000 * 35e = 70000e

Altogether = 252000e plus sponsors.

But if you think of the expenses.... Staff, renting a icehockey arena (15k seats I think) for 4 days and 3 nights, electricity, the 1Gbit network, tables and chairs and misc. there wont be much left.

EDIT Oh yeah, also the 35ke prizes... 🙂
