the waitress seems a bit busy. i ordered $23 worth of food with water. the bread is a bit stale, the soup is good, and my water glass is 3/4 empty ( or 1/4 full if you want to be a dick about it )

the main entree is so so. how much tip should i leave?

The bread and entree are not her fault. If you're going to penalize her, do it based solely on the water being 6/8 empty. Tip her 12%.

So how long did you wait before you're able to go inside and be seated? It usually takes 40 minutes - 1 hour at the local Olive Garden when the place is busy especially on the weekends or even during lunch weekdays.

I heard that tip is about 15% for good service or even 20% for excellent (above & beyond) service. :hmm:

Why is your water almost empty? Is she slammed with other tables?

Also - is she a professional waitress or a college kid working for spending money?

Doesn't Olive Garden have guys that come around and fill you water? I haven't been there in over 3 years; my last couple of meals were so sub-par in quality I haven't felt any need to return.

oh,c'mon now, cut the malarkey!

the water has been empty since my original post. i'll still leave $5. i'm feeling pretty saucy today.
Just double the tax to a minimum of $5 for reasonable service.

tip and min $3 for poor service.

Triple tip and $10, and make it obvious, if you are trying to show how much money you make.

she looks like a college kid, expressionless, not very talkative either. i go to OG often and this is the first time i've had bad service. a different person bought out the food and was pretty lively.

i just left $5, even though my water was never filled.

Have you ever thought of asking for a refill? Maybe when she was dropping off your box, giving you your check, taking you card, or returning your card, or even just walking around?

If you just ordered water to drink, she makes the assumption that your broke ass won't be able to tip well and focuses on tables spending more. Why bust your ass to make $4 instead of $2?

Also, if you are dining by yourself (I'm assuming you are), she is probably not going to focus on you and your $23 tab when she has a couple or a group spending $50-$100 or more which equals bigger tip for her.

If you can't go get a meal without jumping on the internet for any reason, I feel sorry for you.
