My sister had her baby boy, Josh, tonight. He was induced because she was having some issues, i dunno what, but everything turned out fine.

7lbs 14.6 oz.
~20 hours in labor

Yea, it's the Umbilical cord stump. They normal put rubber or some other covering over the stump so it doesn't get infected. It has to be clean and dry at all times.

I'm no OB/GYN, but I'm fairly certain it's because the umbilical cord transfers straight into the body, and if they cut off the stump, there will be an open hole in the baby. Therefore, they clamp the umbilical cord shut until that hole can heal, at which point the cord falls off.

thanks everybody...

i got about 10 minutes of random stuff of the night taped, so i just gotta go home and put it all together in a presentable format.

one of my other sisters is due in 11 weeks, so ill post those when she arrives.

well not really as an insult...it was just kind of a lame comment. i dont see how married people having sex and kids makes them "busier" than anyone else. i definitely dont need to chill because im completely fine right now.
