I've heard good things about them, and finally with iTunes 7 decided to give them a shot. Now several hours later, I'm several gig's of free space less! :p Tech, comedy, vintage cartoons, you name it, they are there.

So this got me wondering; what Podcast's do ATOT listen to?

The Onion Radio News, Firaxis, Film Score Monthly, and the Official Lost Podcast.

Why does the term podcast exist? is it not just a downloadble mp3 file/streaming audio?

you know what, I never figured out what a Podcast was. Can anyone seriously explain?

I am NOT kidding. I seriously don't know.

Should we call a dictionary a book with words in it?

ipods are the medium that helped podcasts take off with regular non-techie consumers. I guess people just started calling the that.

it uses rss feeds to subscirbe you to mp3/AAC downlaods. You get the benefits of RSS, the benefits of mp3/aac, and the best part is that all you ahve to do is subscribe to a feed.

ingeniously simple really

So the simple answer is yes, it's just an mp3 file/streaming audio (my understanding is it needs to be streaming and 'live' to truly be a 'podcast' but a lot of people post theirs as mp3s)

Silly.

We managed to get by for years without the term podcast while streaming audio and mp3 files still existed, thanks for playing though.

It's a "clever" play on the word "broadcast."
Before I grabbed a podcasting client (Juice) I just grabbed the XML file and pulled the mp3's URL from there, and saved from that.

Podcasts aren't streaming.

Should we eliminate the word "Blog" too, as people wrote things online before that existed!
