I'm addicted to food.

It's like I just can't live without it.
You can. Fill a liter bottle with electrolytes (combination of normal salt and pink salt should work, a pinch of each). Then imagine you are marooned on an island and every day the bottle is all you have. Day 1 will be hard. Day 2 may feel the worst. Day 3 will be much easier. Day 4, you will feel like you never need to eat again. Day 5, you may start feeling weak. Day 6, break your fast with something simple, like fruits and maybe a nice omelette. That's it. You will know now that you don't need food as much as you thought.
 
Become a breatharian and free yourself from the need to ingest organic matter. I haven't eaten anything in nearly 3 hours and feel great.

Last year everyone at the hospital was happy to see me putting on weight.

I remember during my PET scan last year I was debating If I should get Burger King or Taco Bell afterwards. Or perhaps I should get both, storing up extra energy would be a good thing.

Then I managed to gain weight during Chemo.

Now my oncologist is telling me I need to slow down. There is now too much Jon! I would weigh even more if I still had the innards they removed earlier this year!

Now that everything is flowing through my reconstructed digestive system and I no longer have my small intestine draining into a bag taped to my abdomen eating is so easy and FUN!

FOOD! FOOD! I NEED FOOD!

Rectal cancer, Lost my rectum and descending colon. It was high enough that they saved my poop hole, yea! Just had to reroute my transverse colon and I can function almost normally.

Overall it was a major pain in the ass. Looking back it all seems rather horrific, but going through it was a lot easier than you would expect. It was a wild adventure.

I think easier is a relative term, with the other option being death, yeah it was "easier".
That aside, grats on your recovery and saving your bung hole. It ain't a pretty organ, but a damn handy one to have.

BTDT. Went 6 days without food once. No biggie. Just for the hell of it.

After watching the "Science of Fasting" video (trailer below, documentary available on Vimeo for a few bucks), I do an annual 2-week water-only fast now. I just monitor my water intake & use magnesium, sodium, and potassium. Around day 4 or 5 is the hardest because that's when you get fully cleared out, then all of a sudden you get things like amazing mental sharpness, emotional stability, etc. It REALLY helped me to understand my body a lot better & the mind-body connection of just how much of an impact food has on our energy levels, our clarity of thinking, and our emotional state! I also do a 24-hour dry fast once a month as sort of a monthly reset. Then aim for macros the rest of the time after that, primarily from homemade food, as the more I've read about preservatives, the more I'm inclined to avoid them lol.

It was way back around 1970 when I encountered an article entitled Food Pollution. Reading and rereading that had a big effect on me. Before that I had virtually no exposure to the realm of ideas about what you should avoid in the supermarket, food service, restaurants, etc. etc. etc. It delved into many aspects including additives, preservatives, extenders, emulsifiers, food coloring, all the crazy weird and confusing gobbledygook you see on labels you see in the stores.

Ever since reading that article I have tried to monitor what I eat with an eye to reducing intake of things that are not good for me. In 1970 you saw very very little anywhere concerning that, at least I hadn't. I suppose there was something, but that article was really something. I think it may have been in one of the progressive magazines, maybe Mother Jones, but it's first issue was 1976. Could have been there or maybe some precursor to Mother Jones.

That is an excellent way to get rid of senile cells. How much weight do you lose at the end of 2 weeks? What's your first meal like after the end of the fast?

I usually just do something basic like some soup from my Instapot. Weight loss depends on a lot of things, but for most people it's like 7 to 20 pounds. I don't know if your body gets used to pulling from an internal fat source as you get leaner & do fasting more often or what. Also, this is a pretty cool video on how it affects your guts!
